Textures and light provide a compositional element that caught my eye.

The origin of the term Eavesdropping:

Hampton Court Palace outside London was the palace of King Henry VIII of England. In the eaves of its Great Hall, small faces are carved into the oak beams which lean at an angle of 45 degrees to the ground. These are known as 'Eaves Droppers'. Henry was known to be a strong ruler and often put spies in crowds of people to listen in to conversations. He wanted his staff (who slept in the Great Hall between banquets and would lie on straw looking up at the eaves) to know that he or his people would be listening at all times.

While out in Boulder Colorado, I got up before dawn one morning and drove into the mountains. I found a road that led up to nearly the top of one of the frontline mountains and pointed back toward the east and the rising sun. It was a bit cloudy, but I did get this color for about 15 min. That is the city of Boulder in purple lower center.

Last week I got up early and headed up Canyon Road out of Boulder for a sunrise over the mountains. The sunrise wasn't all that spectacular. Turning around I was thrilled to see the full moon hanging in the sky. I had to blend two shots to get detail in the moon as well as the mountain side.

Saturday we took a ride to Saint Peter's Village. It was a nice day and the water was flowing wonderfully. I had a couple of versions of this scene. Some with dappled sun streaming through the trees and other like this one with overcast light. I preferred the saturation obtained with the overcast lighting, and as it turns out the first image I shot of this scene.

I was going through some shots taken weeks ago and came across this gem from a shoot at Valley Forge Nat'l Park. Remember this one, Mary? Mary Brooks-Brown shooting Cannons with a Pentax during some snow flurries. Not a snow squall or snow shower, but flurries. I grew up with flurries and they have since gone away from the weather language of the 21st century. I miss flurries, let's bring back flurries. (figuratively of course) Right now I just want spring. Well, enough rambling, enjoy the picture.

Mary Brooks Brown and I cobbled together a nice little trip to Valley Forge Park this morning to take advantage of the fine dusting of snow that fell overnight. The snow was photogenic and we came away with some great image, not the least was this abstract design created by the snow filled cracks of the cobblestone. Thanks, Mary, for encouraging me to get up and out this morning.
